Images of the Month (December)
We look back at our favourite images of the month of December
Our Content Works team uncovered this vintage snap in the Barclays Group Archives, taken 42 years ago on the steps of the British Library. The bank’s former deputy chairman Timothy Bevan is pictured handing over manuscripts left to the bank by poet Lord Byron – which are valued to be worth around £1 million – to the library’s chairman as a “literary Christmas present” to the nation.
Kitted out in their tailor-made Speak-sponsored cycling jerseys , this snap is of the Lunsar Cycling Team as they prepare for an important upcoming race. We spoke to team captain Karim Kamara about the challenges facing the club, inspiring young people in the area – and how their kit is the talk of the town.
We sent our snappers across the river to Greenwich to capture this shot of Barclays Group Chief Sasha Wiggins hosting the banks’ fifth annual New Frontiers conference. Hundreds of entrepreneurs and innovators attended the technology event to discuss and debate the future of banking.
