Secret Santa, Speak Media style

With another unusual Christmas approaching, it may feel difficult to maintain your office’s typical festive routines. But it’s the season of giving, so Speak Media’s annual tradition of secret Santa is going ahead – lockdown or not. To celebrate the occasion, we’ve gathered six gift ideas bound to bring good cheer to any content colleagues.

1. Coffee subscription

Here at Speak, we like to think of ourselves as coffee experts (or addicts, depending on which way you’re looking at it). So if we can’t all drink coffee together at the office, there’s no reason we can’t enjoy making it at home – which is where a coffee subscription comes in. We love the look of Perky Blenders, a brand that offers a variety of blends and subscriptions. Delivered right to your doorstep, it will fuel your secret Santa’s caffeine addiction all year long!

2. Stationery

Whether we’re taking notes down from an interview, recording edits for a podcast or brainstorming our next content ideas, beautiful stationery is something of a passion amongst our content team. It may seem like a simple gift but we all know the simple ones are the best. We really like the look of Papier’s stocking fillers as stylish gift options. Trust us, your secret Santa will appreciate it.

3. Subscription to The New Yorker

Here at Speak we’re always on the hunt for content inspiration, so what could be a better gift than a subscription to The New Yorker? We love their mix of commentary and criticism (and of course the crosswords). The perfect gift to make sure the content producers in your life keep up to date with current events, whether they like it or not.

4. Coffee mug warmer

Whether we’re gathered in the office or working remotely at home, everyone at Speak has experienced it: forgetting a cup of tea you’ve made, only to return to a lukewarm, disappointing beverage. That’s what happens when you’re laser focused on providing the best content for your clients. But what’s this? A USB cup warmer? That I can plug into my laptop or nearby socket to keep my drink warm? Yes, please.

5. Disco ball

Speak’s Christmas party may not be going ahead this year – but that doesn’t mean we can’t all celebrate. With a disco ball, the party can carry on at home. And if you keep it at your desk, it will make drafting that piece of copy that bit more exciting – truly a gift that will keep on giving.

6. ‘Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation’

Over at Speak we can never have too many reminders about the importance of punctation. That’s just the kind of people we are. This brilliant book by UK comic writer Lynne Truss reveals important how-tos when it comes to using punctuation in a humorous (and instructional) way, ideal for avoiding bloopers in this year’s Christmas cards.
