Images of the Month (July)
We look back at our favourite images of the month of July
“I’m trying to be the Stephen Hawking of Parkinson’s”
Meet Walter J Archey III, the US rapper and filmmaker also known as Tahiti, pictured here taking a time out on the set of his latest music video ‘Light Blue Room’. In an interview with Parkinson’s Life magazine, Walter told us: “When you see me, I’m going to have a gold chain and be with some fly ladies, making beats and rapping – and you’re not even going to think about the Parkinson’s.”
Behind the scenes: the Speaksters hit the recording studio
This snap of Speak copywriter Roisin was taken behind the scenes while recording for the third episode of our new podcast series for our award-winning Parkinson’s Life magazine. In a poignant hour, spent with Danish politician Elisabeth Ildal and Irish Parkinson’s campaigner Gary Boyle, guests reflected on the difficulties of working with Parkinson’s and how they came out of the “Parkinson’s closet” to their employers.
Yanto Barker: building a cycling legacy in Sierra Leone
The final shot in our July Images of the Month is of Yanto Barker, founder of sportswear brand Le Col and former Welsh Commonwealth Game cyclist, doing what he does best.
We sat down with Yanto ahead of the final weekend of the Tour de France to discuss Le Col’s support of the Speak-sponsored Lunsar Cycling Team, building a cycling legacy in Sierra Leone – and why he’s always seen cycling as a passion “but also a luxury”.
