#UniteForParkinsons reaches 8 million worldwide
For the second consecutive year, the Speak Media-produced Parkinson’s Life online magazine was appointed the official media partner of the Unite for Parkinson’s campaign.
After the success of last year’s campaign – where we won Best Charity Campaign 'highly commended' in the Drum Network Awards – we were thrilled once again to be working with Parkinson’s UK and the European Parkinson’s Disease Association, the two charities behind Unite for Parkinson’s.
For 2018, we devised a comprehensive campaign strategy – including a tailor-made content plan, a 24-hour social media schedule and a special campaign e-shot. We also reached out to our wide network of Parkinson’s advocates and invited them to get behind the campaign.
Once again, Unite for Parkinson’s was an overwhelming success – reaching 8 million people from 199 different countries. The campaign hashtag was also used over 17,000 times – more than double last year’s figure.
A wealth of high profile individuals and key policymakers also threw their weight behind the campaign, including Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, former England rugby player Mike Tindall and television presenter Dave Clark.
Laura Smith, Parkinson’s Life editor, said: “We’re delighted that for a second year running our Parkinson’s Life team reached out to millions across the globe. A combination of engaging content, thorough planning and hard work meant that the whole world could come together and Unite for Parkinson’s.”
