Monday Funday: putting fruit back in the picture

Fruit stealing funnies

At the risk of sounding like a nagging parent doing the school run, you really should be working your hardest to get your five fruit and veg a day. Dutch electronics company Philips has taken up the mantle with this prank at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum to promote its new blender. With nothing more than a light-fingered security guard and some David Blain-esque sleight of hand, the brand removed all the fruit from the world-famous paintings – highlighting how important it is to “put fruit and vegetables back in the picture.”

The Landing Bay

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s a well-executed ad spot from airline EasyJet and car renting service Europcar. In the one-minute mockumentary-style clip, aired as part of the brands’ Fly-Drive campaign, we meet ‘Landing Bay Manager’ Ian and his assistant Rashid – a deadpan duo responsible for the safe parking of the futuristic wagons.

From the ha-ha-harchives

Originally created by Reebok as a commercial to be aired during the Super Bowl in 2003, this film became the most watched part of the broadcast by people with live recording package TiVo. Why was it so successful? Because what isn't funny about seeing office workers being tackled by 20-stone fictional American footballer Terry Tate.

Monday Funday just hopes there isn’t an opening for him at Speak.
